Puppy Information*Reservation*Protocol

Important to Know, The Ins & Outs

  • Once a pairing is posted we open our reservation list. Prior to whelping we allow 5 reservations. To reserve contact us via email/text/phone and we will send you our Puppy Parent Form. After filling the form out and returning to us, you will be able to reserve your place in line. The reservation fee is $200.00 (non-refundable) and payable via Venmo/CashApp/Check/Cash. Please do NOT send a reservation until you have been instructed to do so, as we want to ensure that we have a space available on our list. The reservation fee applies towards our puppy price. If something should arise with the pairing of your choosing on our end you are able to roll over your reservation to another litter. Communication is key, we cannot control all aspects of mother nature. Payment is DUE IN FULL by the time the puppy is 8 weeks old. For puppies that fly, payment is due 5 days PRIOR to the flight.
  • When puppies are born, we do make an announcement, usually on Facebook & text. A group photo is posted and how everything went and is going. Please be patient during this time as I am present with the mom, and she has my attention. Individual photos are taken around the time that their eyes open. Our Facebook page is updated often with the latest happenings.
  • Puppy picking is in the order of the reservation status, this is made aware at the time of reservation. Puppy personality notes are posted and texted around 6 weeks old, this along with pictures, video, facetime etc... helps in choosing your pick. For clients who are more local., visits are welcome AFTER the first set of vaccinations if our schedules coincide, and all works out well. Again, communication is important.
  • Puppies start ENS training at 3 days old and we use a lot of information from the Puppy Culture Training System, along with knowledge from our mentor breeders and vets. Puppies will have exposure to different textures, sounds, sights, our children, our animals. They are exposed to the hustle and bustle of household traffic.
  • Puppies go to the vet between the age of 6.5-8 weeks old for an individual health and wellness exam. See wagon videos on Facebook, it's a hoot! Flight certificates for puppies flying are valid for 10 days. I cover the first flight certificate charge, should you need a flight change you are responsible for the cost of another flight certificate exam which is going to be $75.00.
  • Flying- We do have a lot of puppies who fly. Flights are an option, we exclusively use Ozark Jet a Pet. We will not entertain another avenue unless it is a flight nanny. We do have a flight nanny, her availability is limited so this needs to be taken care of well in advance. I do have contacts for ground shipping as well. Transportation Ie: flying, ground, pet nanny is the buyers' expense. The kennel carrier used with Ozark Jet a Pet or our flight nanny is yours to keep.
  • Puppy Pick Up at the Farm- We always welcome our families to come to the farm for puppy pick up. It will give you a chance to meet us in person and see your puppy in our environment. We keep our puppies till they are 8 weeks old. We always enjoy our puppy pick ups and love getting to meet you! We can also meet families within a reasonable distance if our schedule allows. We have met clients in Jefferson City, STL, KC, Branson etc... Again, communication is key and making sure we are on the same page. We have even met clients in Memphis, Tulsa, and Omaha, it gives us a little break if we are able to take one.
  • Our puppies are sent home with the Puppy Parent Gift Basket/Bag, it will have their binder, health card, articles, tips/info. Puppies are microchipped. Puppies are started on deworming and anti-protozoan protocols at 2 weeks old and on a 2 week schedule. Your box/bag will also include Diamond Brand Puppy Food, NuVet vitamins, toy, baby blanket or scent plushie, treats etc... We always suggest Snuggle Puppies to pet parent, they are great little comfort items. You can find them online or PetCo.
  • Our puppies come with Trupanion Health Insurance. In your binder you will have our breeders' code and information on their coverage. Once you get your puppy, please activate their insurance within 24 hours. Trupanion does NOT pay me, they are just a great company and my representative Jacob is wonderful. My clients have given me great feedback.
  • Our puppies come from health tested parents, genetic health testing is of utmost importance. This breeder takes pride in producing healthy dogs with wonderful temperaments for your loving homes. Your puppy comes with a 2-year health guarantee from genetic defects that would be life threatening. Our health guarantee is included in your binder and will be signed by us and the puppy buyer. This will be gone over when we meet or prior to puppy pick up. Most of our adult labs have either OFA, PennHip &/or parental history of orthopedics. Dysplasia is 70% environmental and 30% genetic and has in recent research moved closer to 90% environmental and 10% genetic. Understand and educate yourself on what is and what is NOT appropriate exercising for your growing puppy. Also educate yourself on spaying and neutering and when to do so. Growth plates do not close on Labrador Retrievers till between the ages of 18-24 months. The growth hormone is pertinent to proper development, healthy bones and joints.
  • Please prepare for your new puppy by making an introductory visit with your vet within 3-5 days of puppy pick up. No vaccinations may be due at that time, but it is important to get established with your new puppy and their new vet.
  • It is your job, once reserved on the list, to check in with us as whelping is a busy time. We do reach out to our clients via Facebook posts and texts, send updates etc... Don't be a cricket, talk to us!
  • Please do not ask for pictures, we completely understand the excitement, but we do a good job at posting photos and updates. Photographing puppies is time consuming and I am a perfectionist. I will post when I can and communicate if there is a delay due to our kids' school schedules, a birth, etc. We like to do professional pictures at 2 weeks old, around the time their eyes open. Then we do professional photos at 4 weeks and 6 weeks and anytime in between up to 8 weeks, candid snapshots or video of them being adorable.
  • When we schedule a phone call, clear your schedule, I tend to talk a lot! Just a fair warning in advance, I can talk Lab all day long.

EXERT FROM OUR PUPPY PARENT FORM

The reservation fee for a Landon J Farms Labrador Retriever is $200.00. This secures getting a puppy from us and it does apply towards your purchase price. Prices of our litters are determined by the sire/dam pairing, limited or full registration, imported bloodlines, titles in lineage etc… Please make sure to speak/message with me prior to sending a reservation to make sure we still have availability. Sending the form AND the reservation fee completes the reservation process.

Reservations for a current or upcoming litter are non-refundable, but you may roll your reservation to a future litter one time, communication is key. You may pay your reservation fee thru Venmo or CashApp. If you do not have one of these, please let me know, I can use PayPal if needed as a last resort. The reservation fee may also be in the form of a check, made payable to Marianne Chester Holtz. Please notify if you are mailing a check, your reservation will be marked as complete once the check has arrived and clears through the bank. The payment methods are as follows- Venmo: @LandonJames (If you need my phone number for this it is 573-552-5394). CashApp is: $LandonJFarms

The remaining balance for your puppy is due at the time of puppy pick-up at 8 weeks old. If you are unable to pick up your puppy during the week the puppies are available, communicate with me and together we will schedule a date. The balance of the puppy is DUE at the 8-week mark, even if we are holding the puppy for a short time after the 8 weeks. If we are holding your puppy for more than 1 week after puppy pick-ups, care is $50.00 a week and due upon pick-up. We will not hold a puppy for more than 2-3 weeks, with that being said, there are exceptions, it just needs to be communicated ie; traveling, work schedules, prior commitments that would keep you away... This is a critical bonding time and the puppies come first.

We enjoy having puppy pick ups at our home. If there is a distance between us, we are willing to meet within a reasonable distance if time allows. If our travel time is over 90 miles, we charge a $100.00 travel fee. Typically, we do not travel over 2 hours to meet unless it has been discussed and agreed on. If you are local, we do not mind meeting locally as well. We understand that not everyone wants to travel a long gravel road for a few miles. When coming to our home, please check your GPS with me, there are several ways here and some of the roads your GPS will take you are not the most efficient routes. Storms can also be a factor with low bridges. We ask that you DO NOT bring an existing dog with you to our home, though it may be in good conscious, it causes too much excitement with our own dogs and runs a risk of cross contamination/biosecurity hazards, which puts new litters at risk. When coming to our home we ask that you refrain from visiting other breeders, dog parks and/or shelters for 2 weeks prior. If you have been around a dog with a contagious illness within 4 weeks of visiting, we will meet you in town- this is non-negotiable. We are strict about our safety measures and most people understand the importance of this, it is in the best interest of our dogs, puppies and property. Upon arrival, please park at our front gate and one of us will meet you to walk you in.
